Jerry Zigmont is a special guest on Time After Island Time (part 1 of 2)
A series welcoming musicians from the Woody Allen & Eddy Davis New Orleans Jazz Band
Produced by Paul Leslie and Jeff Pike
Jerry Zigmont is a “premier trombonist of the New Orleans style." For over 10 years, he has been performing and touring with Woody Allen & The Eddy Davis New Orleans Jazz Band. The band performs from a repertoire of over 1,200 songs ranging from early 20th century popular tunes, hymns, spirituals, marches, blues and rags. The musical director is Eddy Davis, a legendary hall of fame 4-string banjo player and the band also features film director, writer, actor, and comedian Woody Allen on clarinet.
Special guest Jerry Zigmont's trombone playing is steeped in the classic New Orleans tradition, with its trademark raw power and "straight form the heart" approach. He is featured on the band soundtrack recording Wild Man Blues and has performed extensively with the group bringing the rare, traditional and authentic New Orleans Jazz to many countries around the world.
