Fred Tackett of Little Feat is a special guest on TAIT!




As we continue our exploration into the music and personality of each member of the legendary band Little Feat, we bring you Fred Tackett. Fred Tackett is a guitarist, mandolinist and trumpeter with Little Feat. His association with Little Feat goes back to the very beginning when he was friends with Little Feat founder, the late great Lowell George. He was always a friend of the band, contributing session work and songwriting. In 1988 he became a fulltime member of the band. He has recorded with artists ranging from Tom Waits, Ringo Starr, Jimmy Webb, Bob Dylan and the Allman Brothers. He is also a solo artists and with Paul Barrere forms the duo Paul and Fred.

Sam Clayton has been a conga player and supporting vocalist with Little Feat since 1972. He was introduced to the band by his friend Kenny Gradney (with whom he had played behind Delaney & Bonnie).
Sam Clayton was also the conga player with Jimmy Buffett before Ralph MacDonald. He joined us on Time After Island Time to talk about his musical life with both Little Feat and the Coral Reefer Band. He shared with us his influences, his thoughts on the new Little Feat album and his thoughts on music. He shares memories of starting with Little Feat as well as reminiscing about the late great Ed Bradley.

Kenny Gradney has been the bassist of Little Feat ever since the 'Dixie Chicken' album. Little Feat has a new album called Join the Band (Produced by Bill Payne and Mac McAnally, Executive Producer Jimmy Buffett). The new CD features reworked Little Feat classics, new songs and features guests ranging from Michael Utley, Sonny Landreth, Robert Greenidge, Dave Matthews, and Bob Seger.
Our special guest Kenny Gradney was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He replaced founding bassist Roy Estrada. He has recorded and performed with a great number of artists ranging from Delaney and Bonnie, Warren Zevon, Bob Weir and many more notable artists.
